There are a variety of advantages to choosing a synthetic sports pitch, they’re in use through most seasons including wet weather. Not only that, but they require less maintenance than real grass and they can;t be waterlogged or ruined with overuse. They are an ideal choice for schools, leisure centres and other organisations who require a regular area with which to train for a wide a variety of sports.

There are a variety of options to choose from when selecting a synthetic sports pitch, including:

3G (3rd Generation)

3G pitches are an artificial grass effect pitch that are ideal for games like tennis, football and even rugby due to their soft surface and realistic grass effect. 3G pitches utilise an infill of sand and rubber and require very little maintenance.

Sand dressed pitches

Another type of synthetic grass pitch, but with a reduced sand content, which makes for a faster playing surface. Sand dressed is the synthetic sports pitch of choice for many sports, but most commonly for hockey.

Sand-filled

This is what’s known as the original astro turf, which many synthetic sports pitches use. A popular choice due to its diversity and use as a multi sports pitch that can be used for football, tennis, hocket, netball, basketball and many other popular sports.

Water based

This is a very high-end synthetic sports pitch that’s most commonly used for high-level hockey games due to the added water infill that makes for a much faster playing surface.

Polymeric

This type of synthetic sports pitch is what you would most commonly associate with athletics sports, such as track and field. However, it can be used for multi sports pitches and occasionally on tennis courts. It’s a textured rubber surface, which is what makes it a great option for athletics.

Tarmac

An extremely durable synthetic sports pitch option that’s commonly used in schools. It’s an ideal option for sports such as basketball, tennis and netball. Not only that, but the upkeep is absolutely minimal which makes it one of the more economical options.
